Round Up

This past weekend was Round Up, a notorious weekend full of frat boys, concerts, crawfish boils, parties, and lots of neon clothing. Lots of guests from other colleges come into town to visit and party. Olivia, Shelby, Oliver, and about 5 other people came to stay with us. We started the weekend off on Thursday night by going downtown to Sixth Street to the Sig Ep bar tab at The Stage. We saw so many Ursuline girls! On Friday evening, we went to dinner at Chuy's and then put on our neon tanks and fanny packs to go to frat parties. Saturday we all woke up early and went to Tri Delt/Cowboys Cookout to support Natalie. Then we all went Sig Ep where they have Slip n Slides, a crawfish boil, and an ice cream truck! We skipped the Sammy Adams concert at Sigma Chi and took a break midway through the day. We went out again later that night to a foam party at Sig Ep. It was fun dancing in the suds! I took so many pictures over the weekend but here are some of my favorites!

Photo Shoot with Emily

This week for my photography class, our assignment was portraits. I was very excited because I love lifestyle photography and am very interested in portraits specifically. I convinced my friend Emily to let me take pictures of her. We fought Austin rush hour to Zilker Park which is downtown. It was the first time either of us had been there and we had so much fun. The huge grassy field was spotted with kids at soccer practice, families flying kites, teens competing in sand volleyball, men playing croquet, and a large arrangement of boulders to climb. We decided to return another day and have a picnic! Here are some of my favorite pictures from Emily's photo shoot.

Personalized Bracelet

Having an interesting like Carmen, it is usually hard to find my names on items like personalized souvenir mugs and keychains. So naturally, I was shocked to find that out of the 31 gold name bracelets that Urban Outfitters offers, Carmen was one of them! I immediately bought the $16 bracelet online and anxiously awaited its arrival. When I checked the mail today, there it was! Although the online reviews warned that the bracelets ran small and fit tightly, I found it to fit perfectly. This will definitely be a piece of jewelry that I wear daily.

Mavericks Game

My friend, Aly, invited me to come to the Mavericks game with her and our other Texas Spirits friends, Jac and Michelle! I was so excited because I haven't been to a Mavs game all season and I really wanted to go to one. We ate at a small Italian restaurant downtown called Neo Pizza. It was so cute and the pizza was so delicious. After dinner, we walked over to the American Airlines Center for the game. We had really good seats in Section 113. We stumbled upon a station where you could make posters to hold up during the game and made one that said "Texas Spirits love the Mavs." We held up the sign and were on the JumboTron six times! Across the crowd, we spotted Khloe Kardashian and her friend, Malika. We were starstruck! It was a very eventful game and the Mavs won against the San Antonio Spurs, 106 - 99!

Spring Break

For Spring Break, my family and I decided to come to our lake house on Cedar Creek Lake. Adrian brought her friend Meghan from Ursuline. Today we tanned (and got burnt), went for a ride on the boat, and just hung out around the house. Adrian and Meghan made candles and I worked on a scrapbook for Texas Spirits. I took lots of pictures today, but here are my favorite!

Back Home

Today was the first day of Spring Break! After I finished (failing) my Economics test, I packed my bags and headed back to Dallas for a week of family, friends, and the lake. However, it was kind of a gloomy day to start off Spring Break. It rained for most of the day but I didn't let that stop me from snapping a few photos with my iPhone to Instagram! Here are a couple pictures from my three hour drive from Austin to Dallas.

I really wanted to keep the raindrops on my windshield in focus
and the car in front of me out of focus

Decisive Moments

I procrastinated all week but finally started my photography assignment today...the day that it is due. We had to take 72 pictures of decisive moments and pick out our four favorite to turn in to be graded. Natalie Patton and I walked around campus together. I took pictures and she gave me some ideas and modeled for me from time to time. Although we are not allowed to edit the pictures we turn in for class, I always do afterwards because I think a little color never hurt anyone!

Weenie Beanie

Today, for Texas Spirits, we had Weenie Beanie! This is when each Weenie gets to meet her big and family! Each JI sets out the Texas Spirits tote bag and a costume for her Weenie. The Weenie puts on the costume and then has to find her family who will be dressed in coordinating costumes!

My family dressed up like crayons! The girls in my family are Ashley Embry, Jenna VonHofe, Aly Kasberg, and Stephanie Hestilow. This is the family I was dying to get so I was SO happy that I got matched up with them! I'm so excited for the rest of this semester and the rest of my time being a Texas Spirit!
